Dell InspironThe Dell Inspiron series of laptops is a laptop series designed for consumers and home users. The low end models of Dell Inspiron laptop portable computers start at a size of fourteen inches, and are available directly from the Dell website for as low as around seven hundred dollars. These low end models include models such as the Dell Inspiron E1501/1051, the Dell Inspiron E1405/640m, and the Inspiron E1505/6400, which is said to work particularly well with the new Windows Vista operating system and has an upgradable LCD panel that can be changed out for a high resolution SXGA+ LCD panel. Finally among the low end models of the Dell Inspiron series laptop computers, the Dell Inspiron E1705/9400 is one of their better inexpensive laptop models for gaming, with the option to replace the lower cost ATI Radeon x1400 graphics card with a more advanced nVidia GeForce Go 7600 GS graphics card. However, this system is reported to be very hot, so you may want to have it on a table instead of on your lap. Dell actually faced a class-action lawsuit for an earlier model in the Dell Inspiron line, the Dell Inspiron 5150, for serious overheating problems that in some cases damaged the motherboard or video card inside the laptop. These problems seem to have been fixed, but the systems still tend to run hot when they are used to their full potential. The high end systems that Dell markets under the Dell Inspiron brand include the Dell Inspiron 9300, which comes with a seventeen inch wide screen that is perfect for playing games or multimedia applications. Dell also has a high end gaming system in the Dell Inspiron line which is called the Dell Inspiron XPS2. The Dell Inspiron 9300 is based on the Dell Inspiron XPS2 and can be upgraded on Dell's order form website to be nearly as powerful for gaming as the more advanced Dell Inspiron XPS2 system. The upgrades available for the Dell Inspiron 9300 include a faster hard drive, more RAM, a Pentium M processor, and either an nVidia GeForce Go 6800 graphics card or a newer nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card. With these upgrades you can put together a powerful gaming system at a price that may be easier to afford than the Dell Inspiron XPS2. As a whole, the Dell Inspiron lineup seems well suited to home applications and in some cases for gaming.
